Have you ever read something that forever changed the way you look at the world?

This site is dedicated to finding the stories that resonate and cause a ripple effect because the author was able to put into words something I’ve struggled to understand, or has created such a simple, wonderful, original mind-picture that it makes me stop and laugh out loud at its that utter fabulousness. IE: In John Scalzi’s Agent to the Stars when the alien needs to be transported home to the agent’s house.

Even telling you about this scene lightens my mood and sticks a silly grin on my face.

There’s another scene in Shari Green’s Missing Mike where, during a wildfire, a young girl goes out of her way to reunite a family with their cat, even though she hasn’t been able to find her dog, Mike. The moment when she’s happy for them and heartbroken for herself is a very special moment. The clash of emotions is powerful.

Books like this need to be celebrated. Send me the name of a story that shaped your reality along with a month and day, and let’s start a calendar.

I declare April 24th to be Missing Mike Day
